ARTIST PROFILE

CAMILLE LAUREN

Born on the small Netherland Antilles' island of Curacao, Camille spent her early years living in Bonaire until her family moved to Canada when she was six. The island aesthetic is evident in much of her work. Camille is drawn to the storyscapes found in popular culture, daily life, and music. She strongly believes that it is important to be bold and brave in the sharing of our narratives. She gravitates towards using bright colours of acrylic paint in her work. Camille briefly studied Jewelry Design at Edna Manley College in Jamaica, and will soon graduate with a Bachelors in Design from OCAD University in Ontario.

PRETTY AS A BOW

"Pretty as a Bow" is a piece that captures the beauty of a rainbow on a Spring day. Pearlescent 3-dimensional waves make up the clouds as the sky cascades from a deep blue to a bright yellow. The colours in this painting are meant to evoke a sense of happiness, hope and harmony. This was created using acrylic paint on canvas. This painting is a part of the Artist's most recent series; the Paradiso collection.

SEA STARRAS

"Sea Starras" features a variety of sea stars spread out across the canvas. Swirls of water surround them, as the background dances with pinks, oranges and yellows. The artist's love of the ocean is on full display in this playful piece. It was created using acrylic paint. This painting is a part of the Artist's most recent series; the Paradiso collection.
